Watershed
The Watershed Media Centre was founded in 1982 as Britain's first media centre, and is now one of the South West's most popular public amenities with over half a million visitors each year.
Plans have been developed to meet the growing demand and create a 21st century Digital Media Centre. The investment project will add a third electronic cinema, enhance the digital media training facility and launch Dshed (www.dshed.net) a new Broadband Channel for exhibition and promotion of South West independent media projects.
Watershed supports the Clarks Digital Bursary, international film festivals Brief Encounters & Animated Encounters, Electric December, touring Digital festivals and on-line networking opportunities.
Open 7 days a week. Watershed offers a culturally diverse programme of film/new media exhibition, education and training in a socially vibrant and inclusive environment. Watershed has a strong brand built on a consistent and sustained approach to extending the choice beyond the mainstream. Established as the leading media venue in the region, Watershed is now extending its portfolio to create a virtual presence on the internet which delivers the Watershed experience to a wider audience.
