The Story of Tracy Beaker is a hugely popular book by the acclaimed author Jacqueline Wilson about the trials of Tracy, who lives in a children’s home (‘The Dumping Ground’) and has an active imagination. The book has been turned into an equally popular television series by the BBC (series 5 currently in production). Lisa Coleman (who plays ‘Cam’ in the series) will chair a question and answer session on with actress Danni Harmer (who plays ‘Tracy’) and animator Andy Walker who provides animation for the series. Come along and find out how Andy turns illustrations into animation, and how he copes with new characters. Or ask the actors how it feels to be animated. All ages welcome!

John McCloskey, based at the Nerve Centre in Derry, was awarded a NESTA Fellowship in 2001 so that he could have the space to push the boundaries of animation, and develop his skills as a storyteller and director. Mid-fellowship, he decided to immerse himself in the 3d animation world. In conversation with Dave Sproxton, Co-owner and Executive Chairman of Aardman Animations, he describes his experiences through the fellowship, and his continuing interest in strengthening the animation industry in Northern Ireland.

Once upon a time a lonely dog decided to adopt a retired Russian general. The General names the dog Bonaparte in honour of his former enemy. Clever Bonaparte notices that the kindly General has a problem - earlier events during his great battle with Napoleon have caused all the birds to be furiously angry with him. It is faithful Bonaparte the dog who comes up with an amazing idea to solve the problem with the birds – but it is a dangerous plan which risks the lives of all the dogs in St Petersburg. Can the General come to the rescue in what will be his most noble battle? A touching, poetic adventure the history books seem to have forgotten....
